About the image behind the Winter Park Live Oak Fund logoThe image upon which our logo is based is “Oak in Blooming Meadow,” by Ralph Clevenger. The photographer comments on the image: “Springtime on the Central Coast of California is characterized by a lush bloom of wildflowers. The Santa Ynez Valley, just over the Santa Ynez mountains from Santa Barbara, is a favorite place of mine to capture this spring profusion of colors. With a perfectly blue sky, one of our majestic oak trees and the yellow mustard flowers, this is, to me, the quintessential California valley scene.” About the photographerRalph Clevenger has traveled the world on assignment, with a lengthy list of publication credits that includes National Geographic World, National Geographic Books, Smithsonian Books, Audubon, Terre Sauvage, Oceans, Islands and Outside magazines. His clients have included MacGillivray-Freeman Films, The Nature Conservancy, Monterey Bay Aquarium, California State Parks, Santa Barbara Maritime Museum, Phillips Interactive Media, Lifelong Learning Inc., Santa Barbara Zoo, Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History, the National Park Service and the National Marine Sanctuary.
After learning about the tree destruction in Winter Park, Mr. Clevenger graciously waived the rights fee and donated the use of his photo, “Oak in Blooming Meadow,” for use in the Live Oak Fund’s logo. Mr. Clevenger’s stock catalog is represented worldwide by Corbis. |
